Covid-19: RPM Nation and The Animals

In response to Covid-19 and the recent surge, we want to remind you that as we work hard to save as many animals as we can, we remain committed to the health and safety of our team, volunteers, and foster families as we do our part to help reduce the spread. Our life-saving work is essential and we continue our mission while taking all steps necessary to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our RPM nation and the animals.

We remain diligent in the safe handling of all products and supplies throughout our facility. We are maintaining the increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting and are requiring all staff, road crew, volunteers, and foster families to wear masks and adhere to social distancing.

A Pandemic and The Animals

Even in the midst of an unprecedented pandemic, you have stood by us, committed and supportive of our mission to save hundreds of homeless dogs and cats every week. Know that we’ve been busier than ever, breaking multiple records, and it’s because of you, our donors, supporters, fosters, and volunteers.

We’ve expanded our partnerships to be able to help more shelters in and around Greater Houston who have been especially desperate for support during these difficult times. We’re also working with rescue partners in other parts of the country including Colorado, California, Virginia, Illinois, and Wisconsin, where they are intaking the animals saved from the streets of Houston and placing them in their forever homes for their second chance at life.

Staying at Home and Fostering Saves Lives

We are saving more lives now than ever, which means we need foster families now more than ever. As our community works together to slow the spread by staying home, it has shown to be a perfect time to join the RPM family and become a Foster Hero. Save a life by fostering. Your application and onboarding will be conducted virtually. We will match you with your foster dogs or cats, schedule your time to pickup your foster pet, and prepare all food and supplies you need for contactless pickup.

Support the Mission: Volunteer

We are allowing a minimal number of volunteers on site for the time being. Volunteers must wear a mask and have no signs of illness. We are allowing up to three volunteers on transport days, otherwise, volunteers are encouraged to assist with RPM Freedom Rides where you would help us rescue pets from the shelters and drop off at the RPM clinic for intake. You will remain in your vehicle upon drop off and a masked RPM team member will retrieve the pets from your vehicle. There may also be other virtual tasks that arise and would benefit from your skills as a volunteer. Fill out our volunteer application and we will reach you as soon as possible for volunteer opportunities as they arise.

Stay Home: Support from a Distance

The health and safety of the team and the animals is always the most important thing. If you prefer to stay home, another way to help is by donating. Your funds help cover expenses including vetting and transport fees. Choose what’s comfortable for you and your convenience. Offer a one-time donation or become a RPM SuperHero.

The Mission Must Go On

As rescue never sleeps, neither do the needs and care for the animals. We thank you for helping us to save hundreds of animals each week. Because of your support, we’ve been able to give more than 53,000 animals a second chance at life since September 2013, and we can’t thank you enough.

Best wishes on behalf of the RPM Team,
Cindy Perini, Co-Founder and President

Why I Foster…

I foster so a life is saved from the shelters and a kennel is cleared from RPM. RPM has the best foster program as you can foster as little as a few days before transport or sometimes a few weeks. Fostering gives the animal love, comfort, and decompression time which is so crucial in saving ALL these precious souls.”
