Happy Tails: 5 Pets Find New Homes Beyond Houston’s Crisis
There is no greater gift than a second chance at life. The animals you are about to meet were all facing dire circumstances in Houston-area shelters, many on the euthanasia list. Thanks to the generosity of RPM’s volunteers, fosters, and donors, and our network of rescue partners, these deserving pets got their ticket out of Texas and into a future in loving homes.
Take a look at these five recent RPM alumni who have been adopted into their forever homes and are now enjoying the life they always deserved.
First up, Jelly Bean!
This sweet little kitten and his three siblings were on the euthanasia list at Houston’s municipal shelter, BARC, at just six weeks old. They were facing death solely because they had treatable conditions, like upper respiratory infections and ringworm. RPM stepped in, saved all four siblings, ensured Jelly Bean got the medical attention he needed, and then transported him to safety. Jelly Bean was adopted into his loving forever home in Colorado in December 2025!
Next up is Jagger!
Jagger’s story is a heartbreakingly common example of Houston’s pet overpopulation crisis and shelters operating at full capacity. This handsome one-year-old dog was placed on BARC’s euthanasia list for no reason other than needing kennel space. Despite being friendly with people and other dogs and having zero health complications, he was out of time. Thankfully, RPM was able to bring Jagger to safety and prepare him for transport. Freshly neutered and with a whole lifetime ahead of him, Jagger quickly found his perfect match, and he was adopted into his loving forever home in November 2025!
Next is Alastor!
This kitten found himself on BARC’s euthanasia list at just five months old because he tested positive for scabies. This completely treatable skin condition should never be a death sentence, but for many animals in Houston shelters, it is. RPM was able to save Alastor, ensuring he received the full course of medication he needed to heal and feel his best. Completely recovered, Alastor was transported to Colorado and adopted into a loving forever home in December 2025, proving that a little medical attention can change everything.
Meet Bella!
Like Jagger, this beautiful, happy girl faced the reality of Houston’s homeless pet crisis. At just four months old, she was placed on the euthanasia list solely for lack of space, despite having absolutely nothing wrong with her health or demeanor. RPM brought Bella to safety, and she was quickly transported to one of our rescue partners in Colorado. This precious pup found her forever family and was officially adopted in November 2025, where she is now living the joyful life she was always meant to have, grinning from ear to ear!
Finally, meet Clover!
RPM rescued Clover and her seven siblings from BARC at only three weeks old. They were far too young for adoption, as underweight and immature puppies have weak immune systems that make them highly susceptible to infectious conditions like URI in a shelter environment. Once ready, the whole group made the life-changing journey to our rescue partners in Colorado, and Clover was adopted into her forever home in November 2025. She is now guaranteed the chance to live a happy, healthy life!
These are just five of the thousands of lives RPM saves every year. Rescuing, rehabilitating, and transporting at-risk homeless animals like Jelly Bean, Jagger, Alastor, Bella, and Clover is only possible because of the continued support we recieve.
If you want to play a role in creating the next happy tail, please consider volunteering, becoming a foster, or making a donation to fund the life-saving medical care and transport required to get these animals to safety.

Why I Foster…
“We started fostering after our personal pets all passed as we hope to travel extensively. Fostering fills the void when we are home and our goal is to fill them with love before their journey. It’s always hard to let go but the posts from other fosters make you know that you are not alone. Plus, there’s always another to help. RPM has made such a difference for Houston area animals. I always feel supported and heard.”
