More Than 150 Pets Receive Free Care at RPM’s Third Community Vet Care Day

Over the weekend, Rescued Pets Movement hosted our third free community vet care day, providing vaccines, microchips, and flea/tick prevention to more than 150 dogs and cats, with final numbers still being counted. 

When we opened appointments a few weeks ago, appointments filled up within the first half hour. That alone shows the massive gap in accessible care. 

The families we meet at these events see their pets as non-negotiable members of the household. They don’t lack the will to care for their animals; they need a community that helps them overcome the financial hurdle of doing so. Rising costs and the corporate shift in veterinary medicine have priced many families out of basic wellness. 

Vaccines, flea prevention, microchips, and wellness checks are often pushed aside because families are forced to make impossible choices between groceries, rent, gas, utilities, and veterinary bills. 

When you remove the financial barrier, people show up in huge numbers ready to protect the animals they love. 

Throughout the day, we met newly adopted pets, dogs and cats who had been rescued off the streets, senior animals needing ongoing care, and families doing everything they could to keep their companions healthy and safe. 

Community vet care days are about much more than vaccines and microchips. 

• They help keep pets in the homes that love them. 
• They help prevent animals from ending up in shelters. 
• They protect against deadly illnesses and preventable suffering. 
• They give families support before they reach a crisis point. 

While most of our time at RPM is spent on rescue and recovery, our free events are about preservation. They remind us that there is an entire community of pet owners who just need a fair shot at keeping their families whole. 

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made this event possible.
