Success Story Sunday- Lucy

Success Story Sunday – Lucy (fka Scar)

Lucy (formerly Scar) was a cruelty case from BARC, and she was in horrible shape when she came to RPM. She spent ages at the vet as they stabilized her, and then another two months in foster care before being ready to go to a forever home. She nearly tripled her body weight and regrew a beautiful coat over her months of RPM care. At 10 years old, she’d lived a life full of cruelty and neglect, but somehow still maintained a beautiful personality. Her foster was amazed at how boldly she investigated her new home, and how trusting and sweet she still was! She’s a friendly and loving kitty, bold and curious about her surrounding and other animals, and loves toys and cuddles. We’re thrilled that she has found a forever family right here in Houston that will spoil and provide Lucy with the life that she so deserves.

Success Story Sunday- Family Reunion

Success Story Sunday – Family Reunion

Some time ago, RPM transported a older, pregnant momma to one of our partner rescues in Colorado. She had her puppies, and all were adopted into different, but happy and loving homes. Recently, several of the adopters arranged to get-together and have a big family reunion!! Momma Teresa and a few of the siblings weren’t able to make it, but five pups did! All had a wonderful and special puppy play date.

For those of us on the Houston side, it can be scary to send these cats and dogs so far away, but they have such great lives waiting for them! Special and fun things like this are so great to see. Our partner rescues find loving homes and awesome lives for these animals that never would have had a chance here in Texas.

Success Story Sunday- Boots

Success Story Sunday – Boots

From Boots’ forever family:

“From what I understand the poor little guy was found on the streets in Houston. How anyone could abandon this little guys is beyond me, but now he is in his forever home.  The good news is that Boots & Bella hit it off right away!  I will not say it has all been easy. He definitely needed training and so does Bella in some areas. I think all dogs are actually very smart and it is us humans that need to learn to communicate with them in their language. This has been a wonderful learning opportunity for me and my husband in many ways. We are still working on some behavioral issues, but this little guy is in our hearts and definitely a part of our forever pack. I am guessing prior to this he had no actual training. We are committed to him 100% and each week he is learning more and more. I am so grateful to everyone involved rescuing these precious animals and to all of the foster homes that keep them until they can get to their forever homes. I can’t imagine Boots on the streets. I wish I could rescue all of them, but at least I know we helped him. And Bella sure is happy to have her little brother. Bella wanted to say thanks too!! Here’s a couple pictures of them.  Bella is the black one and Boots is brown with a white chest and white “boots.” We love them both so much! Thank you for everything!”

We’re thrilled to hear that Boots has found the perfect, patient, loving family! Thanks for putting the time, effort, and love into Boots!

Success Story Sunday- Sweet Pinky

Success Story Sunday – Pinky

Pinky had a way of carving a special place in the heart of every person that she met, and reminding us that pitties are not bad dogs. Her Houston and Colorado fosters loved her, and her forever family absolutely adores her. She’s full of love, cuddles, and (like so many pitties) is happiest sharing your pillow, snoring in your ear.

Pit bulls are often targeted and stereotyped, and have some of the worst odds when they find themselves in a shelter. We’re so happy to have Colorado partners that know better, and forever families that provide wonderful homes for these sweet, loving dogs like Pinky!

Success Story Sunday- Ridley

Success Story Sunday – Ridley (fka Codi)

Ridley (fka Codi) was transported to Colorado and found her forever family in June 2014. She first arrived as a foster, but her family quickly decided there was simply no way they could let her go and ended up adopting her. They describe her as the “sweetest, gentlest dog,” and she loves camping and swimming.

Ridley is clearly loving the Colorado life! We’re thrilled that she found her way to a wonderful forever family!
